Created exclusively for Australia, Kala Brand Music has partnered with three of the country’s most talented artists to design a trio of truly special, limited-edition instruments.

Celebrate the spirit of Australia’s red centre with the Kala Desert Storylines “Sunburnt Country” Tenor Ukulele, featuring authentic Aboriginal artwork by Chantelle Mulladad from Santa Teresa. This ukulele beautifully combines musical craftsmanship and cultural storytelling, allowing every strum to honour generations of Aboriginal knowledge, artistry, and tradition.

Each ukulele in the Desert Storylines range features genuine Aboriginal artwork, created in collaboration with three Australian artists — Chantelle Mulladad, Evelyn Young, and Margaret Bloomfield — with royalties paid directly to the artists.

Artwork Inspiration

“Sunburnt Country” by Chantelle Mulladad

“This painting is about the country where I live. We go out into the desert to hunt and to collect bush foods or firewood. Before the night comes, we would find a place to set up camp. As the sun sets, the old people would tell us stories about this country around the fire light.”

Chantelle’s design uses warm reds, golds, and ochres to reflect the beauty and vibrancy of the desert landscape at sunset.
